Dear People of St. Patrick Parish,
Today, we honor two great Saints of the Catholic Church, St. Peter and St. Paul.
Both these Saints were called by God, to bring His message to all people everywhere. St. Peter, to Jewish Christian and St. Paul, to Gentile Christian and both Saints were killed for their faith in Jesus and followed Jesus to the end.
Jesus said to Peter, “you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.”
Yes, Peter is the First Pope and today Pope Leo XIV is the 267th Pope to lead the Catholic Church in the name of Jesus Christ and to help safeguard the teachings of Jesus even in these most difficult times. The Pope is assisted by the Catholic Bishops of the world.
St. Paul was chosen by God, to follow Christ and to accept a death like Jesus on the cross and to lead others to Christ by His words, teachings and example.
This week we will celebrate the Fourth of July and celebrate the Independence of the United Sates of America. So many people fought and gave their lives over so many years, to hold onto this Independence.
So many people came to America, to make a better life for their families and worked hard to make America a place of peace and joy and be filled with love for others, even fighting in wars, to save this nation.
Yes, so many of us are here because of that, let us not, let anyone or any group take that value away in this, the Land of the Free.
A very Blessed Fourth of July and let us come to the 9:00am Mass, pray for America and the hope and dream that so many dream of and never forget our own roots.
Happy Fourth of July and pray that one day every human being and their families may have peace and joy and be able to show their love to God who made them.
God Bless,
Fr. Larry Young
