Dear People of St. Patrick Parish,
As we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, on that
Pentecost Sunday, we reflect and pray that today we will see the meaning for all of us living in 2024 A.D.
The Apostles hiding in that upper room were fearful, scared, frustrated, uncertain and thinking what do we do now, Jesus whom we put our Faith and Trust is now gone away from us.
Jesus had promised that He and the Father would send an advocate to guide them, help them, give the knowledge they would need to carry on His mission. They forgot this and were in deep confusion and disappointment.
All of a sudden, they said what is that noise, that wind, what is happening to us, oh, God help us.
Yes, it was the Holy Spirit that came upon them and filled with this Holy Spirit, they began to speak in different tongues and people could understand what they were saying in their own language.
They went outside and began to preach all that Jesus had taught them and they did so with complete trust and conviction.
The Church founded by Jesus was now seeking to convert people away from sin and to live in peace and love as Jesus had said we are all to do.
As we pray Psalm 104, “Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.” Let us have faith and trust that the Holy Spirit and the Father and the Son can make it happen.
Are we willing today to try and live as God wants us to live and to try and show by our good example, that will lead others to come to know, love and serve God.
Today, we also pray to the Blessed Mother and ask for her prayers for all the world to live as her Son Jesus taught.
God Bless,
Fr. Larry Young
